“ We have been long customer of Bacolod Chicken House. To non-filipinos, this restaurant isn't just filipino food, it focuses on specialties from a specific region. So it's like if a japanese restaurant specialized in okinawa, or a mexican restaurant specialized in oaxacan food. You're traveling to the intimate parts of the Philippines in Chicago! Personally, if you're trying to eat at seafood city, skip it. GO HERE! Much better, much fresher, and cleaner. As an ilonggo, their food is truly authentic to Negros, especially their batchoy and inasaal. All day silog breakfast is amazing too, always get garlic rice! For me, their dishes that they do the best would be SALU SALO PLATTER (all the different meat, perfect for a party of 4-5. Featured fish, pork, beef, and chicken! Great for trying the menu with a smaller party of people) BATCHOY (Native soup to bacolod) INASAAL (Ilonggo Style Chicken, paired with rice, atcharra- like filipino coleslaw or kimchi, and sauce) LUMPIA (Small egg roll apps, very addicting!) TURON (imagine banana foster, but filipino!) I swear on my life-- their turon is the best turon i've ever had. I've lived in california too, and i swear that their turon is still the better than what LA and SF have to offer. The turon recipe is an original from the first owners-- it's a twist on the filipino street food. Instead of the classic filipino banana fried in eggroll wrapper then caramelized, it's a fresh crispy eggroll filled with filipino banana, dark chocolate (tsokolate-- filipino chocolate), and provided a caramel sauce to dip. Innovative and insanely delicious. Another unique thing for them to offer is their BOODLE FIGHT or Kamayan. This is a feast for a large party of people and it's the filipino way to party! It's where all the food is laid out on a banana leaf covered table, and forget the forks and spoons and knives-- it's hands! The filipino way to eat that was born out of soldiers way of eating on the battle field. It includes an array of different meats and seafoods, veggies, and of course-- RICE !! You feel immersed in the Philippines culture from tastebuds to hands! If you want to try authentic filipino experience here in the chicagoland area with a large group of people-- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PLANNING A BOODLE FIGHT FEAST! The owner and staff are super nice, just please remember to be kind and patient! Ambience is a mom and pop resto, clean and simple. Nothing crazy or fancy, but features decorations all the way from Bacolod, maskara! Truly an hidden gem, a lot of heart and soul poured into the restaurant. Honestly i'm reluctant because i want to gatekeep this restaurant but it deserves all the love! Happy feasting !! ”

“ The Batchoy (hope I spelled it correctly) was extremely delicious. My wife is from Iloilo and we looked all over town for it and she says it is very similar to what she has in the Phillipines. I had it and it tasted really good. I also had the chicken (Paav I think) and garlic rice and was delicious. Will definitely be back for sure. ”

“ I only came here once awhile ago and we had a group going for the boodle fight. When some of us got there at our reservation time, they had the table partially prepared. They need everyone from our party to arrive, so that they can prepare the whole table. You eat with your hands. It was rice, different kinds of meat and seafood, etc. They also brought us halo halo and like dessert egg rolls (forgot the name). Price per person wasn't too bad. I left full and satisfied. We found free parking either by the restaurant or one of the side streets. The staff was very nice and attentive. ”

“ If you've ever wanted to experience the authentic Filipino Style of eating with your hands, aka "Kamayan" you need to grab a fun group and reserve a spot here at Bacolod Chicken House. You won't regret it! Tip - they won't start preparing your table until your whole party arrives in order to keep the food nice and fresh. So what is a boodle fight you ask? Well the whole table is covered in fragrant banana leaves and then laid out with white rice. Next, the Ulam (side dishes/finger foods) are laid out. It ranges from egg rolls, tapas, fried fish, shrimp, longanisa (sweet cured pork sausage), fried eggplant dipped in egg, along with mangos, and other fruits situated in the middle of the table. Check out my pic. Keep in mind that there are NO UTENSILS to use. The whole point of a Boodle Fight is to eat with your hands, as that is the traditional way of eating is in the Philippines. It's so much fun! We had our Friendsgiving/Friendsmas celebration here and we had a great time with great food. There's so much food so be prepared to take some home with you. The ladies that work here are super friendly and attentive. They remind me of my aunties! For dessert we had halo halo - a mix of ube ice cream, shaved ice, coconut gels, sweet beans, etc. We also had Turon- ripe plaintain banana and sugar, wrapped in egg roll wrapper and fried. Definitely recommend and the price is very reasonable for all that food! ”

“ Very friendly people and good Filipino food! We started with their famous batchoy (sorry, we forgot to take pictures before hubby and son devoured the bowls of hot noodle soup they ordered) and son said he'd order the bigger bowl next time because it was really good! They also each had a plate of grilled chicken inasal with rice and atchara (sweet pickled papaya shreds). I had the Lumpiang sariwa, with still-crisp vegetables, wrapped in a thin crepe, finished with a sweet soy-based sauce and some crushed peanuts. We ended our meal with halo-halo, a large bowl of sweet morsels served over shaved ice and evaporated milk and topped with ice cream. Their version of this Filipino snack/dessert came with sweet beans, sweetened banana, sweet potatoes, coconut gel, coconut sport strips, tiny tapioca balls, ube ice cream and corn flakes. The dining area is clean, the bathroom well-kept and looked like someone took the time to make sure it stayed clean and smelled fresh. They have a few TV screens tuned in to Filipino programming but the volume of programming he sound was just right so guests could still carry on conversations. We have been to this restaurant a few times over the course of a few years and they have delivered on taste every time. ”

“ Aug 7, 2023 Monday : met up with family from Chicago and they took us here for lunch. Staff is friendly and place is clean. We were the only ones there with another couple who was leaving. We ordered Batchoy..one with liver and one without. It's a soup with meat, boiled egg, and liver. We also ordered oxtail kare kare (flilipino version of curry), pork sisig (pigs face cut up of cheeks and pig ears, and fresh lumpia. Pork sisig is good but I had better. Loved all the food. My least favorite was the fresh lumpia, it had too many chick peas and another type of root or veggies. All in all it was a good experience. I would go back for the kare kare, Batchoy, and try another dish. We were too full for dessert. Check them out! Happy eats! ”

“ Had a very nice dinner here during the week with my friend. We ordered Crispy Pata, Sisig, Chicken Inasal, Balut, Batchoy, and Mais con Yelo. All of it was pretty good, although I personally just don't love the sisig here. Maybe it is Bacolod style? It didn't taste like the typical Pampanga one I'm used to, and I just wasn't that much of a fan. Everything else though, was excellent. Service was very attentive and both the ladies that come over to check on us, bring out our food, etc we're all sooo friendly. They suggested to come back with a big group to do their Kamayan style dinner which is something I've always wanted to do. I'm surprised this place doesn't have higher reviews, because I like it a lot and our service was excellent. I'll be back hopefully soon! ”

“ I cannot wait to go back. I already know which dish from the menu I will order, the next time I visit Bacolod Chicken Haus. Under new ownership (since 2021), the place has been re decorated and I guess the menu was also tweaked a little. The first time I came here was about 4 years ago. It was for a boodle fight with some friends and we had a great time. A few weeks ago, a couple of friends suggested that we come here for dinner. We definitely made the right choice. We tried: BANGUS BELLY- I loved how the bangus skin was crispy and the belly was so flavorful. MINI CRISPY PATA- Winner! Cooked perfectly. I ended up taking home half of the meat. This dish was so well worth the price. SISIG- My friend asked for the fried egg to be separated. This made the sisig crunchy and delicious. PORK SINIGANG- I ordered this to go for my daughter. I tried it at home too, it was so good. I just hoped there were a few more pieces of meat though We shared a satisfying Flan for dessert. I actually wanted a Turon but they only served it with chocolate, so we opted for the Flan instead. The place was clean, service was great and the food was worth coming back for. Street parking can be a challenge though. I will definitely be back to try other dishes, I'm sure they are all just as good as what I have tried. P.S. It's BYOB :) ”
